Choosing JinkoSolar panels
Jinko is one of the largest panel manufacturers in the world by volume, and the Tiger Neo series is what most Australian installers mean when they say Jinko today. We fit the N-type TOPCon models from 475 W to 510 W.
What N-type TOPCon actually changes
Older P-type panels degrade faster in their first year and lose more output as they heat up. N-type TOPCon cells do both less. On a Melbourne roof in February, when panel temperature can sit forty degrees above ambient, that temperature coefficient is worth more than the difference in nameplate wattage between two panels on a spec sheet.
The other practical gain is low-light performance. Winter mornings and overcast days produce noticeably more than an equivalent older panel — which matters here, where a meaningful share of annual generation happens outside clear summer days.
Choosing between the wattages
The 510 W panels use 120 half-cells and are physically larger. On a big unobstructed roof they mean fewer panels, fewer rails and a faster install. On a cut-up roof with vents and valleys, the smaller 475 W panels often fit more total capacity because they work around obstructions better. Panel count is not the goal; total installed capacity is.
Where Jinko is not the answer
- If appearance matters most, all-black options from Aiko or SunPower present better on a front-facing roof.
- If you want maximum watts per square metre on a very small roof, the back-contact panels from Aiko carry a higher efficiency per area.
- If you want an Australian-made panel, Tindo is the only one on our list that qualifies.
On warranties. Panel warranties come in two parts: a product warranty on the panel itself and a performance warranty on output over time. They are different lengths and different documents. We set out both before you sign, because the headline number in an ad is usually the longer of the two.
